If you want your children to have lives, don't send them to St. Albans, or Sidwell!!!!

It hurts me to say it but none of the Catholic Schools in this area are as good as the elite privates. But, of course, they are cheaper too -- so that is a benefit.

How would you know? And how do you define "good"? Maybe their test scores as less impressive because they cater to a wider population, or because their parents don't have the money to fork over for tons of tutoring and test prep. That doesn't mean the brightest kids can't get a top notch education if the school has excellent teachers and a challenging curriculum. And they are taught virtues as well. Not sure we will go the Catholic route for high school, but you shouldn't paint with so broad a brush. I've met a number of kids who graduated from area Catholic schools whose parents I'd be proud to be.

Didn't go the Catholic school route myself, but know some truly brilliant grads from Gonzaga and Prep--I think there's a lot of talent to go around in this area.

That's right it isn't. But it is also just a good academically as any of the top schools and, better athletically. You can argue that the price is set accordingly.

Prices of school have no reflection on the quality of the education honey.
