low progesterone and migraines

What is considered low progesterone? And what can be done to boost levels if you suffer from migraines with aura and have been told that taking progesterone puts you at risk for a stroke?

I used progesterone suppositories after IVF. My understanding is that the risk of stroke rises, but not that greatly. I will say, after week 12, when I went off the progesterone, I had migraines with a vengeance for a month. But I have a healthy baby, so it was worth it.

OP, I don't have an answer for you but thank you so much for bringing this up. I have suffered from migraines for many years and this is definitely info that I need to know.

OP here: Yes, if you suffer from severe migraines with aura, then according to my neurologist, you shouldn't take progesterone b/c of the increased risk of stroke (you can't take birth control either). I already have 2 kids, and we were thinking about trying for a third when my OB discovered a few things (borderline low progesterone, a thick endometrium, break-through bleeding). He still thinks I could have another, but I'm not inclined to take risks at this point in my life. So, I'm on the fence, and hoping to hear from some BTDT women.
