Better environment for kid with social anxiety?

Think Virginia Tech vs. St. Mary’s College of MD. Wants to study biology or biochem and is a very good student.

Trying to assess the pros and cons of big vs. small, mostly, and these are on the radar. Thanks.

OP here. College of Wooster is also on the radar, but might be too far away.

I hope your child has received counseling before attending college and that his chosen school can offer him resources.

OP here. Isn’t W&M a notorious pressure cooker? It would be a slight reach anyway but DC likes the nerdy vibe.

Big schools can sometimes be better. Continually meet new people, lots of different clubs to explore. Small can feel like high school again.

Depends if you want them to be able to hide/disappear or be forced to emerge a little (like participate in class discussions). SLAC's perhaps better for the latter

Wooster has a nerdy vibe, very mid-western in a great down to earth way.

It IS a long drive from here, and across Western MD which would not be fun in the winter. But I have heard flying is not bad.
