Think Virginia Tech vs. St. Mary’s College of MD. Wants to study biology or biochem and is a very good student.
Trying to assess the pros and cons of big vs. small, mostly, and these are on the radar. Thanks. |
| St. Mary’s College of MD |
I agree with this 100% |
| Wooster, Juniata. |
OP here. College of Wooster is also on the radar, but might be too far away. |
| William & Mary. |
| I hope your child has received counseling before attending college and that his chosen school can offer him resources. |
OP here. Isn’t W&M a notorious pressure cooker? It would be a slight reach anyway but DC likes the nerdy vibe. |
| Big schools can sometimes be better. Continually meet new people, lots of different clubs to explore. Small can feel like high school again. |
| Depends if you want them to be able to hide/disappear or be forced to emerge a little (like participate in class discussions). SLAC's perhaps better for the latter |
Wooster has a nerdy vibe, very mid-western in a great down to earth way. It IS a long drive from here, and across Western MD which would not be fun in the winter. But I have heard flying is not bad. |
