2013 rav4 - transmission is going out

Anonymous
I bought it at 40k miles, it just got to 90k miles and after 3 opinions, it has to be replaced. Extended warranty went out already in September 2019.

I'm extremely bummed. I still owe $8k - single mom now working part-time due to COVID. The cheapest I've gotten to replacing it is $4k. Does anyone know of any reliable places I could get information for another extended warranty or have any advice?

Call Toyota, tell them you had the extended warranty and it just went out in September and the car only has 90k miles. Tell them you want them to stand by their product. you might be able to get them to write a check for part of the repair cost.

I would do a social media campaign and research to see if other people who own this car are having similar issues. I am so sorry.

There are a lot of great and honest mechanics in downtown SS- let me know if you need a rec!

If you are on the east side of town, this is a fantastic shop and they are honest and do not overcharge. They are in the College Park general area (Berwyn Heights between College Park and Greenbelt):

We had a car that we took to them for about 8 years. I sold it to a woman and she took it to the same shop. They just transferred our records from our name to her name. I took our new car there and they periodically told me about "my old car" and how it was doing. Great shop.
