Inheriting Autoimmune issues

For those with autoimmune issues, does it run in your family?

My DH and I spent quite some time searching for an egg donor (frozen). We just noticed that our preferred donor's mom was diagnosed with lupus and her maternal grandmother had skin cancer (which may or may not be autoimmune related). We are so bummed out and will most likely pass on her, but wanted to do our research first. Thanks.

Nope. I got it when I was 18. Nobody else in my family has this.

I think you need to speak to a genetic counselor. Everybody has something, but some things are more of a risk than others.

FWIW I would not choose my husband again due to the autoimmune issues my kids inherited. Run.

I don’t know if lupus is genetic, but I would reject for type 1 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis.

Yes, it does. I would also talk to the genetic counselor.

+1

My DH has MS and our kids’ chances of developing it are twice those of the general population.

Pass.

OP here, thank you everyone. We plan to speak to a genetic counselor after my husband's genetic blood results come in. But we have decided to pass on the donor whose mom has lupus. Thanks!
