How early could I be?

Anonymous
So I went in for my first ultrasound at what, based on LMP, I should have been 7 wks. I KNOW I was not though as I definitely ovulated late this cycle (first full one post-miscarriage), but I'm not sure how late. Basically, I'm totally down and disheartened because at the u/s, there was basically nothing to be seen. There was a gestational sac but nothing in it, not even a clearly defined yolk sac. U/S tech was totally "concerned", but my OB says not to worry yet as I could be much less than 7 wks if I ovulated significantly later., and after having bloodwork done yesterday, said HCG was at 36000 and progesterone at 32.

I guess my question is a) how early do you have to be for nothing much to show up on an ultrasound? and b) how early could I possibly be given that on 1/8, my HPT still showed up with a negative result? I didn't get to test again til 1/14 at which point it was positive, so somewhere in there, it changed. Used First Reponse early response too if that means anything.

Thanks for any help.

I just had a sonogram at 6w4d and saw everything including a heartbeat (which was on the slow side sadly, and doesn't bode well). I think by 5-6 weeks you should see some of those things. When are you going back? Can you go for another U/S soon, maybe in a week?
