What will be done about the SAT and ACT?

Anonymous
With the schools closed does anyone have any idea what they are going to do about the SAT and ACT or will the kids just be out of luck and have to apply without?

Multiple schools have already announced that they'll waive their SAT/ACT requirements for next year.

I hope they can still hold SAT even with schools closed.

Or perhaps their parents can dial it down a notch and realize that delaying a year or two is NBD?

I regret rushing through college and law school to quickly enter the rat race. Despite my title, salary, etc. I’m definitely not winning at life.

Let young people live a little.

My rising Senior’s desire to take standardized tests and go to college has nothing to do with pressure from us.

I’m sorry you regret your path, but many kids thrive going straight through.

Wow. You obviously have a large chip on your shoulder so maybe you should dial it down a notch. Sorry you had a bad experience, but not all of us feel that way.

I graduated early from college and went straight through to grad school. Started work earlier than most and have been super happy with my decisions.

Had kids late so had plenty of time to build a decent career and then find balance later for raising a family.

I got no pressure from my parents, it was all me after a certain age. Some kids enjoy the challenge and need to keep moving forward because it’s what they want.

Nobody regrets traveling and having fun.

Not sure where the money would come from to travel.

People can make fun wherever they are.

Unless colleges are waiving the sat requirement for full ride merit scholarships, kids need it to get merit aid.

Have you noticed we can’t socialize or travel due to the pandemic?

I do not understand -- LSAT and GRE have moved to all online testing for some time now. SAT and ACT could do it if they chose. Yes, it requires a laptop and a strong wifi connection, but those are issues that can be addressed in partnership with school districts.

LSAT and GRE take place in testing centers, albeit on computers. Way, way more kids desire to take the sat than those tests. But nobody takes the LSAT from their living room!

Did you forget about the Varsity Blues scandal? People taking tests for other students within the testing centers?
