will Fairfax preschools close because FCPS is DL?

My children are at a church preschool in Fairfax County. I emailed the director a few days ago asking if the preschool would be closing in the fall, like it did in the spring when FCPS went to DL, but I haven't heard back yet. Should I be assuming there will be no preschool so I can get started looking for other child care arrangements or a pod, etc?

I think its just going to depend on the preschool. Our usual halfday only preschool made the decision to close yesterday but it was due to low enrollement- not fcps.

I was luckily able to enroll in a different preschool that considers themselves as more essential (they do have before/after care so maybe more daycareish but only maybe half the kids who attend the preschool there are also enrolled in those programs) and they plan to be open until basically the county tells them otherwise.

It really depends on school policy since they're public schools don't cover pre-k. For reference, our Fairfax based pre-k through 8 will have in person in the fall but we are very well aware that things could change on a dime, but they've given up some sort of heads up about that.

It's is concerning that that the director hasn't gotten back to you at all or that they haven't communicated any of their policy changes to you. You need to somehow get a hold of that person.

Different licensing.

I would suspect daycare will be open. in MoCo, public schools are closed but daycares are open.

I started a thread about this: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/892916.page

Basically, some are closing because of virus concerns or staffing concerns, some are remaining open, and some have cancelled some classes (mostly the little kids classes for toddlers/2 year olds) but are keeping the older classes running. They are not required to follow FCPS and, as far as I know, are regulated more like day cares than like schools.
