My tween DD is begging me to sign up for Fall dance classes at her studio. Dancing is her main sport and exercise and she is on the intensive track so it meets up about 4 times a week. The studio is indoors and they have instituted lots of safety procedures/cleaning bc of Covid but I'm still not sure if this is a good idea at all. Are you signing kids up for indoor activities?
No. My preteen begged to go back to karate. Too much heavy breathing in an enclosed space. It's really frustrating, but not worth the risk. Maryland's numbers are not looking good.
We allowed our daughter to return. Her studio is very small, so less contacts to worry about.
No, too risky IMO.
have you been to a dance studio- it's a humid sweaty breading ground for germs at the best of times. Find a studio doing zoom
A lot of studios do have their kids masking during class
We are in dance too but only have outdoor classes. Indoor seems absolutely crazy to me.
|
No.
Would you give in if she was begging not to wear a seatbelt? Don't waver until the risk has subsided. It will be at most one year of her life. Protect the family now, over hobbies. |
Probably not. I actually question the ethics of the studios that are open for anything but Private Lessons. Maybe it's just me since lots of other people seem cool with it. Me, just no. I do want her to keep up with Zoom classes for obvious reasons (health, resilience, maintaining what she has worked for).
I probably would do it. I let my kids go back to their gymnastics team practice. I feel like they do a good job with their protocol. They come in masked until they’re called in, they do temperature checks, washing or sanitizing hands after each station, requirements to bring your own chalk and other personal equipment, markers on the floor where each kid should stand if not on bars or beam, cleaning equipment after each small group , only one level at a time in the gym, etc. I’ve noticed their friends have gone back to dance and they seem to be instituting most of the same things.
No. Mine wants to go back and we are holding off completely. We tried virtual classes but they are not the same and she didn’t like it. They are offering in person classes but we can’t take the risk, even with masks.
Yes. My kids are are going to indoor martial arts classes with temperature checks, masks, and no contact. My niece is going to dance classes.
No. Zoom it us. It's not the same but I am somewhat forcing the issue. She is not going to sit around on the iPad for months. Gotta get moving some kinda way.
How old? I'd be comfortable with an 8 year old, probably, but not a 12 year old.
Nope, we're not.
