The Bay Area is a fantastic place but has many issues: housing, homelessness, income inequality, racism (granted less than other areas), some underfunded schools, issues with police, etc. A common theme I hear from family and on the SF / SF Bay reddit pages is frustration with local officials, no matter what peoples beliefs are.
Some will say Politician X is too pro development, while others will say X does not build enough. Some will say Politician Y isn't tough enough on crime, while others will say Y is a toady of the police union. You guys get the gist. I would like to hear your guys perspectives. What are your opinions on your elected officials? It can be anyone from people on your city council to our two Senators. |

SF Resident, you are right about the politicians. Politics is complex. I like Mayor Breed, she cares a lot about our city and has handled corona well. David Chiu is very nice and charming, but in the pocket of real estate. Pelosi and Feinstein are effective, but should retire soon for the next generation of leaders.
The new DA is not my cup of tea. School Board, Bart Board, etc try their best. |
| I live in Marin County. I am satisfied with all our representatives. I wish they were willing to build more housing, but are great in terms of schools, environment, and jobs. I am a huge fan of Jared Huffman and have donated to each of his campaigns. |
