Makes me feel better about my kids in preschool.

I don’t know why that makes you feel better about preschool.

Say you have a family of 4. One catches it at preschool. Then 3 catch it from that kid at home. Most people in your family caught it at home.

Well duh your family members are who you see the most, especially if you are forced to stay home.

Yes, household spread is literally unavoidable for an airborne virus. So like 90% chance of catching it.

That doesn’t negate that you might have a 50% of getting it at preschool, which is worse odds than Russian roulette.

Op, I think you misunderstood the study.

People aren’t getting sick from staying home. They are bringing the virus home and infecting their family.

This is not good news for preschool. It is bad news.

Yes. The place where you spend the most time with an infected person will cause the most infections. This is not good for preschool. At all.

This is very good for preschool. People typically do not sanitize their houses. Preschools typically do. Being at home with you kids is not more safe especially when I see parents in groups riding bikes and walking along trails. I assume you do not disrobe and wash when you get home. Also do you take temperatures and use gloves and masks at home and constantly Lysol wipe surfaces? Of course not. And don’t lie neither does a nanny. Preschool is the way to go.

+1. It’s not like sending kids to preschool “protects” anyone from getting it at home. In fact it makes it more likely.

Except other research shows young children are not likely transmitters.

You realize that it will be your kid who catches it at Preschool who will bring it HOME to you, right?

Oh my goodness. I’m starting to see how we ended up in this situation. OP, you totally misread that article. Seriously, does it not concern you that you LIVE with your preschooler who is exposed daily to other children who LIVE with other adults?

This is like when studies show that most accidents happen close to home. It’s because that’s where most of the miles are driven, since every single trip originates and ends close to home.

Yeah this was known from the beginning.

This.

I saw something the other day that said
“now that I see how people are wearing their masks, I understand why contraception fails”

From your study:

Children aged nine and under were least likely to be the index patient.
