For upwards of $20 is it worth it? Or are there better toys to keep kids learning?
I’ve seen some with latches and shoe laces and others electronic |
| You’re going to buy one? This is a DIY item. |
You can make them and I think the originated that way but there are TONS available for purchase. |
| No |
| I liked this because it transitions to pretend play. https://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Latches-Barn-Toy/dp/B01B1V12KS |
| My daughter received one as a gift and loves it (she's 3) |
| Depends on the kid and how you install it. I made mine from random stuff. It was fun and she liked it. |
I made one, and my kid didn't care at all, even though he does like his Melissa and Doug board. Immediately regretted the time I spent on the process. If you find a cool one, I say don't be like me---purchase. (Or perhaps, just spend less time on it if you DIY.) |
| We had a small one but saved it for places like Church and restaurants ( Pre Covid) DD liked it because it wasnt out all the time. |
| Not at 2. More like 1-18 months. |
| Does anything really hold a 2 year old's attention for more than maybe 20 minute increments? No. Not usually. |
| My kid gets more held by stuff like that when he's tired. When he first wakes up? No way. An hour before nap and it totally holds his attention. |

We got this one when my eldest was 1.5:
https://earthhero.com/products/baby-kids/everearth-everearth-activity-walker/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1MDWhPTb6gIVirbICh2lOgIaEAQYAyABEgKnBvD_BwE My kids are now 4 and 7 and they still use it as a grocery cart and a suitcase for all of their imaginary play. But all of the little activities on the busy board part of it never got much attention. |
