What's a good immersion blender that won't break the bank?

I've passed over many a recipe that says "transfer hot item to blender" because I know it means I will just end up burning my hand, face and arms (I've learned the hard way). So I think it's time to invest in an immersion blender. A quick search on Amazon shows a wide range in prices. Do I need to spend $50? Or can someone reccomend a cheap model - keeping in mind that I don't see me using it all that often.

Mine is made by Braun, and was a gift so I don't know how much it was. I doubt it was more than $30 and it works great.

I love my Cuisinart one, too. Mine is in two parts, the motor and the blender. They snap together and come apart very easily.

I have a Kitchenaid stainless model that I really like. It can crush ice, so I can make smoothies in a large tupperware pitcher, rinse the device off, and be ready to go on something else. I generally hate kitchen gadgets, but this device has displaced my regular blender.

I have this one and at $50 it's not cheap, but it has a whisk and chopper attachment so you get more use out of it. I use it more for chopping than I do for the immersion blender.

To the PP with the immersion blender that has the wisk and chopper, do you use the wisk? I am also looking for an immersion blender, but already have a chopper. Just wondering if the wisk is worth it.
