Did anyone use a nurse service for at home injections when preparing for egg freezing? I'm not even sure that service is even an option during COVID, but I was wondering what were people's experiences, and did they think it was worth it? Thank you so much!
I did it around 7 years ago. It was $100/visit back then. Just learn to do it yourself. It’s not that bad.
OP, I don’t know the answer to this but I promise you the shots are not bad at all. Most of them you’ll barely feel.
This would be just stims plus a trigger shot, right? Not needed. You can absolutely do this yourself. You can do it, OP!

Another vote for Team Do It Yourself.
Trust me, you can do it, even the intramuscular shots. You just take a deep breath and do it. |
Also, if there is a way to freeze embryos instead of eggs, please consider it. The thaw rates are higher.

Hi OP, my first egg collection I went into the clinic (abroad) daily and the nurse there gave me the shot. It was a psychological thing, it’s hard to stick yourself! I gave 2 shots that round and it felt like a big deal and I kept thinking I just couldn’t do it but finally did. It was an ordeal.
The second round I actually gave all the shots to myself! It was never “fun” but it really is doable! I know that you can do it too! Best wishes for a good collection. |
yes you can do all the shots yourself! Promise. Have a nurse teach you the first time.
Former egg freezer here (and now 31 weeks pregnant from one of those frozen eggs, five years later, so ignore the haters who say there's no point) - you can definitely do the shots yourself. The first one is the hardest because you've never done it before, and I think I basically closed my eyes and just jabbed myself, but once that was done, it was super easy. I had a diabetic friend offer to come do it for me the first time, but I ended up not even needing that. Good luck and I hope you get lots of mature eggs!!
OP here, thank you all so much for the support and well wishes! I feel much more confident trying myself!
You can totally do it! I actually felt more empowered doing it myself than having someone else do it.
my husband kept volunteering to give me the shots but i refused and did them all myself. there are a bunch of youtube videos, just watch a bunch and tell yourself you can do it! it's not really a big deal after that first time.
Agree with the do-it-yourself-ers. The nurse drew me a circle on my hip for the first trigger shot I did. (Also assuming you only mean that one b/c the other are super easy unless you have a phobia, I guess). Found it very helpful.

I used this nurse and she was wonderful!
