I would like to get my bikini area and legs waxed. Can any of you share the name, cost, & location of who you use? What length does hair have to be? Is there such a thing as too long? Things are getting out of control- please help!!

I go to Hanna at Nusta Spa on 20th Street. I don't wax my legs but do get a brazilian. It's pricey ($70), but she does a fantastic job. Yes, your hair can be too long, but then they just trim it so that its the proper length for waxing. I would probably trim it myself to about 1/4-1/2 inch before I go, I think I'd find it embarrasing for her to trim.

I highly recommend Blue Mercury. They have three locations, in Georgetown, Dupont Circle, and Bethesda. I go to the one in Dupont and I love them because they use cold wax, so it doesn't hurt when it's being applied. I went to nusta spa once and thought I was going to die from the pain of the hot wax pulling on everything. I assume all the Blue Mercury locations use the same cold wax method, but you might want to check.

Just to get an idea of the pain involved on bikini wax - - how bad is it? Compared to say, eyebrow waxing?

Parts aren't as bad, parts are more painful. But if the person is skilled, it is over very, very quick. The real pain is for much less than a second.

I can't recommend Hanna at Nusta whom a PP mentioned. She cut a hole in my eyebrow during a brow wax and left a scab. It looked awful. In years of waxing, that had never happened to me before.

If you are afraid of possible pain, try an over the counter cream hair remover. I have very sensitive skin and the thought of getting waxed in my bikini area scared me -- so I opted for Nair (the sensitive formula).. . .and I am amazed and thrilled with the results in my bikini area. I still shave my legs.
