Hollywood Elite and Politics

Who do these people think they are, telling us what to do, living their degenerate Callifornia lifestyle? They are totally out of touch with America. Why is it that makes them think that because they starred in movies and TV that they are qualified to run our country?

To be fair Fred Thompson was a an attorney and involved with politics long before he was an actor. Though it was about ten years after his movie debut, where he played himself, that he was elected to the senate. Acting was something he did on the side and was never his full time job.

That's right, he got an advanced degree from Vanderbilt. Put him in the intellectual elite thread

My point is that we throw around these derogatory terms about democrats but have complete amnesia when a Republican fits the category.

I could have done the same with "intellectual elite" but the people are less photo-ready. To directly address the liberal elite bash, I would trot out the neocons who got us into the war in Iraq based on novel and often academic thinking about our role in world affairs, Arthur Laffer, the economist who provided the false justification for supply side economics that created the Reagan Deficits, the Chicago School of Law, which included Robert Bork, Antonin Scalia, and Milton Friedman. I would have to list the many conservative think thanks that employ ivory tower types with a focus on achieving conservative goals. I would trot out the shocking number of Republicans with the same Ivy League degrees as the liberals they deride. For every Bill Clinton produced at Yale there is a Samuel Alito, for every Breyer produced by Stanford there is a Rehnquist right there along with them. Republicans aren't all boots and cowboy hats, they don't hold a wrench better than Democrats. They come from the same places Democrats do.

The name calling by these labels is not just unhelpful. It's a total charade.
