Los Angeles- prepare now

Anonymous
I just did an enormous shop. Not hoarding but enough to last me at least a month because I will be very surprised if we don’t go back in full lockdown by next week. Broke another record today, for cases and deaths! Last time I wasn’t prepared, but this time I know people in LA will be so selfish there won’t even be an onion left, so I prepped myself not for coronavirus but to survive the selfish hoarders. I live alone and spent $200. I think that’s pretty reasonable. 2 bags of pasta, veggies and cans to make soup, poultry etc. I am not getting stuck buying tortillas on amazon at triple the price, like last time! Anyone else in CA or other hot spot states/cities getting ready?

some foods are short. but on the other hand, toilet paper is on sale. so i think we'll be ok.

No, I’m tired of hoarding. I will make do with what we have and whatever fresh produce I find at Vons and Ralphs.

There’s food now, but I think when/if we get locked down again people will panic buy again. It was ridiculous for at least a month, not being able to find food. Toilet paper just came back! I can’t go through that again. I went from store to store trying to find milk or onions or bread. This time I’m ready for the hoarders!

Are people from LA really frequenting a DC board?
Don’t you guys have your own?

Was this discussed in the thread yesterday - I didn’t see it - what’s going on in CA? Why are cases rising so much. I thought you guys / & your leaders were having this under control in the early days.

Yes actually you do - https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/forums/show/70.page

And people will never lockdown now like they did before
They already know the won’t burst into flames if they need to go to the store
So it will be much, much harder to get people to stay home now

agreed. Dh has always said you get one chance at making the lockdown work. After that, you can't do it again and expect the same level of compliance.

No, I’m not hoarding. I keep extras in the pantry, which is something I never did pre-Covid. I do it so that we have food the kids can cook in case we get Covid. But I only have one fridge & freezer so I can’t go nuts.

No one goes on that forum. I post occasionally but it’s pretty dead.

Why do you care where people are from? Whether DC or LA, we are all in this together. Forum is open to all.
