| has anyone had experience with flying with your ivf medications? We're doing ivf abroad and will have meds with needles. Did you have any trouble with them on your carryon or checked baggage? Did you need a special doctor note? Thanks! |
| It’s no issue. Just have your doctor wrote a note stating you need the meds and needles. TSA will closely inspect them but they’ll let you through. |
| I did. I was super nervous and had everything in my carry-on. TSA did not care at all |
| Tsa didn’t even inspect mine. Get the note just in case but it will likely be a non issue. |
| No problem at all. I've flown twice now back from Germany with a full cycle's worth in checked luggage and never any issues. I did pack the prescription just to be safe but it didn't look like they ever opened my suitcase anyway. |
This. I even told them at the scan point to alert them. They just said "ok" |
| I have flown with mine domestically several times and nobody said a word. |
| I've flown with in my carry on - I was worried about issues if bags were lost. I think one time I had to give up the needles and one time I didn't have to give anything up. Had prescrptions with me. This was in Latin America to/from US. Much less restrictive generally than TSA (in reality, and also in theory) flying TO the Us. Take prescriptions with you. |
Same for me. I was sooo nervous, and I had a note (which the doctor easily/readily provided) and they never even inspected anything. I was similarly stressed about bringing expressed breast milk through and NO ONE wanted to anywhere near my breast milk when I disclosed! It was pretty funny. My husband and I laughed about the major loopholes for getting contraband onto a plane if it was related to a woman's fertility - needles, drugs, large quantities of liquid, etc...
Anyway, don't worry about it OP. |

Was easy, and I put them in my carry on - which you should absolutely do. No interest in the meds from TSA. They looked in my bag b/c I left my kid's water in the side and if course since I'd forgotten that, I assumed it was the meds and I'm sure the TSA agent looked at me like a crazy person when I pulled out the meds and then laughed. I had no Dr note and none was requested. Still better than lost luggage and no meds. Of course - thinking about it now, not sure how much privilege played into that interaction....
