I am monitoring my ovulation with an OPK this month- it's an OPK with about 30 test strips in it. I detected my LH surge yesterday morning, and then tested again this morning (not sure why, I guess because I had it). Sure enough, it came up positive again this morning. Is it normal to have an LH surge for that long? Is this something I need to see an RE about?
Thanks in advance. |
| It is totally normal and there is no need to see a RE about it. Your surge can last for 24+ hours and you may have caught it right at the start and end. I have had positives for 2 days some months and have other months where I don't seem to catch it at all (happened this month). Either scenario is normal, so no worries. Good luck! |
| Happens all of the time. I've had 3 days of positives at times. |

OP here. So, as it turns out I had an LH surge for 3 days in a row. Does that mean I ovulated right after the first day I got a positive, or after the third day? It makes me think maybe I've been messing up in the previous months. We would have sex right after I got the first LH surge (I would stop testing after I got a positive), and then would stop two days after. Was I missing my ovulation????
Thanks so much in advance - still trying to figure all this out! |
| You could have been missing your ovulation, though your sex still should have been reasonably well timed. You might want to do a couple of monitored cycles with an ob or RE, to figure out your pattern. Also, you might ask about doing some triggered cycles, as that can help ensure a strong ovulation and allow you to time intercourse better. |
| Have you been taking your temp? I always figure that the day after my temp rises, the window of opportunity has closed. |
