Trying to find some activities or simply places for my kids to go for the rest of the summer (aside from our local playgrounds). Age range from 8 down to 2. Outside preferred for sure. So far my list of things that appear to be open are: VA state parks, Botanical Gardens, Roosevelt Island, Turkey Run, National Mall. We're in Arlington. What else does dcum have to suggest??

Selfish parent. You are why ew cannot return to school. |
You can drive out to farms and wineries. Go fruit and vegetable picking.

There was a staycation post a while back with some good ideas. |
Sorry the OP crowdsourcing outdoor activities this summer is not the reason we can’t go to school this fall. Get a grip. |
Kidfriendlydc is my go to for suggetions:

OP here, thank you! Here's the staycation thread for others - it does indeed have a lot of awesome ideas: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/892401.page#17531123 |
I took the kids to Roosevelt Island. It was a nice walk. We also did Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. That was lovely as well. https://www.novaparks.com/parks/meadowlark-botanical-gardens

What was it like at Meadowlark, crowdwise? I would like to take the fam but I’m quite pregnant and risk averse. |
Car safaris- zoofari is one I think? Animal farms. Horse/pony farms. |
We went on a Tuesday morning and it wasn't crowded at all. Weekends might be different. People wore masks in the building where you check in. On the pathways I'd say it was maybe half-masked, half-not, but people were respectful of keeping their distance either way. |
All Fired Up in Cleveland Park and Bethesda has pottery kits you can pick up and paint. They have alot of options for kids items, mine love it. |
Neat idea, thanks! |
