I'm currently pregnant with our first child and am just starting to do research on childcare options. My understanding so far is that part-time care is generally not an option for infants under 1 year. Is this true? Any ideas for care centers that do part-time in NE DC, Mt Rainier, or maybe Takoma? |
Some centers allow part-time hours five days a week, like 9am to 3pm M-F. But generally full time is the norm. You might look into a nanny share or home daycare. |
Mi Palacio (near Takoma metro) offers part time , I think the minimum is two days per week. The option is for fewer full days, not partial days. My kids both thrived there |
Was very challenging to get part time infant spots prior to Covid19. I suspect it will be even more so now with wanting to establish cohorts and limit exposure to additional families. |
We were at a Bright Horizons center prior to the pandemic, and there were definitely part time spots available for infants. I don’t know what the situation is now, but I don’t think the centers are at capacity because people are hesitant to send their kids back. You may have a shot. |
Check out 2 New Heights in Takoma on Blair. They have a brand new facility with varied time options. |
