Has in home licensing changed in Md recently?

I was told today that in Md, no daycare license is needed for up to 6 children.
I thought that wasn't true, and cannot find any source indicating it.

Also..can any licensed daycare open now in phase 2?

It was no license for up to 5 *school-aged* children. I'm not sure if that is still in effect.

And yes, any child care facility can reopen in phase 2. There's a form you need to fill out that has you agree to take certain precautions.

I don't think this can be true because family day cares are usually licensed for up to 6 kids. That category wouldn't exist if you didn't need a license for 5.

Hello- Daycare provider here. The temporary covid rules were just rescinded with a couple of exceptions:

Family and Friend Care: Effective July 20, 2020, unlicensed Family and Friend Care will no longer be allowed. A family child care home is not required to be registered if the provider: (a) is a relative of each child; (b) is a friend of each child's parent or legal guardian and the care is provided on a non-regular basis of less than 20 hours a month (COMAR 13A.15.02). Family and friend providers wishing to continue to provide child care services should contact their regional licensing office to become a licensed family child care provider. In homes are licensed for 8 children but it's based on the square footage of the home and if the providers has children of their own under 6 years old. "Large Family Childcare" homes can be up to 12 children (they need assistants). I know some people do nanny shares here but in Maryland they are illegal and you can be fined if you are reported.

The 'schooling' cohorts that are ISO on all the playgroups on facebook are also illegal since it's childcare.

I see, so until basically now, someone could be unlicensed because of COVID logistics and they are rescinding it. But now that we know there will be virtual school most places, will they un rescind?

Yup. You can’t cancel all formal childcare (KAH, schools) and then make it illegal for me to cobble together care too.
