What age to ride in front passenger seat in VA - need to know fast

Anonymous
My dad is stranded and I can't leave kids alone but do not have room for all of them in the rear set (cousin recently moved in with us so have not made adjustment yet). DD is 12. Is it ok to sit her in the front seat for a short drive? Cannot leave her on her own for reasons too complicated for now.

Yes, it's OK. I let my 11 year old sit up front in town sometimes but she's 5'4" and over 100 pounds.

Yes, but where will your dad go if he needs to ride back with you?

Are you aquatinted with the Internet? Just go to VA DMV!

Thanks, all. He needed my jack. He has his own spare tire, but no jack.

12? Of course that is ok.

I occasionally let my 9yo sit up front when we have a lot of people in the car.

Seriously why do people post questions here that they could easily google?

DCUM is faster than trying to find that info on a government site.

Most states actually allow younger kids in the front anyway if it’s the only available seat, even if they aren’t the legal age.

13, but in your situation its fine. Push the seat back from the airbag.
