Oakton HS redistributing concerns

We are about to close on a property in Oakton based largely on our HS selection (Oakton) amongst other things. I’m a little concerned with all these talks about all the redistricting especially because we are selecting a house with a higher price tag to ensure that our kids are able to stay in the Oakton pyramid. How does it affect kids that will attend Waples Mill and Franklin? I’m at a loss and would really appreciate any information on this! Thank you so much!!

How old is your child? I hadn't heard redistricting was coming soon but I imagine it will come eventually.

My kid is in elementary school so we have some time. But obviously I’m concerned because we’re buying largely based on Oakton/Vienna schools.

I'm not sure of the boundary changes you refer to, but the Waples Mills area is in a bit of a grey zone area in that it is not obviously close to a particular high school to make the H.S. assignment obvious. That being said, it's pretty safely been an Oakton H.S. area and I don't see that changing, except maybe to Fairfax H.S. which is not likley in my opinion, but possible if you are closer to the Valley Road areas of the Waples Mills zone.

The eastern tip of the Oakton HS zone does mix a bit with Vienna based on proximity and youth sports, but I wouldn't consider Oakton and Vienna as the same, they are different schools and neighborhoods.
