I thought the simple answer was once, but that hasn't been my latest experience.
I leased a car through Honda near the end of May. I unfroze my credit and everything was fine. I had a high score and was approved quickly. Two weeks later, I receive a rejection notice from Honda Financial because my credit is frozen (I only unfroze it for one day). After much back and forth with the dealership (during which I calling and leaving messages), they told me I didn't have my credit unfrozen for long enough (even though they had told me a day was long enough). So now, the finance director says that I have to unfreeze all three bureaus so Honda Financial Services can have access. I'm so sick of this problem at this point, but I don't think what they're doing is right. Is it? |
| Ask another dealer. I was pissed as I didn't give permission to the dealer and they pulled it anyway and we were paying cash. For a bank check they didn't need my credit score. |
If you were paying cash, why give them your ssn? Real question, I feel like I must be missing something. |

Use another financial institution. Honda Finance has a bad reputation.

I don't think I did and if I did it was because I custom ordered the car and it was required on the order forms. But, I never gave permission to run my credit. |
| Our Honda dealer hard-hit my credit four times when we bought our last year. I was pissed. I have excellent credit, and there was no need to run it four times. |
