Advice on Buying used 2010 VW Beetle Convertible - Specifically RE Top

So....we are strongly considering a used 2010 VW Beetle Convertible. Owner says she never used with top down. It's garage kept.

It doesn't come with a boot top cover. My question is when the top was down it blocked the review view as it doesn't seem to go down all they way - unfortunately I forgot to see if it could be pushed down when we went to see the car.

Would getting a boot top cover help? Are you able to push it down?

I had a 2006 Beetle and just sold it a few months ago. I never used the boot cover and could always see fine. I’m not sure if you mean to say that the mechanism to drop it down all the way is not working, or if it is and it’s just not far enough down for your liking.

How far down is it supposed to go? When it was down I could not see behind through rear view mirror.

I knew that it was down when the chime stopped. I could hear it engage. The light on the dashboard indicated it was down all the way.

Again, I had no trouble using the rearview mirror. I’m 5’8”. My spouse is 5’0” and had no trouble either.

PP -- another issue is she only has 1 ignition key and it does not open the rear seat compartment. How would I open that compartment between the rear seats?

Google it. There are lots VW forums that could help answer your questions. That’s how I found many answers.
