Dion Tyrone Diamond (Arlington, VA -- 1960)

Admittedly, I stole this from Reddit. I wonder if any locals recognize their dad, uncle, or grandfather trying to intimidate Dion in this photo.

Dion has his own Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dion_Diamond

The photo was taken at a People’s Drug Store - here is a background article. https://allthatsinteresting.com/dion-diamond-civil-rights-sit-in-suburbs

The problem with trying to id people publicly like this is that often people get it WRONG.

The op is trying to identify the white guys. Which is fine, but better to be correct.

I'm not saying random people should dox these boomers, but someone will definitely recognize if one of these men is a family member. Sometimes people change, and that's good and their growth should be recognized. Often times, they don't. Bullies are often bullies for life.

We need to remember that the racists, the bullies, the intimidators, the aholes... are the parents, grandparents, uncles, and relatives of people alive now. It's not ancient history.

The Charlottesville protestors (aka “very fine people”) proved it’s not ancient history.

Another one, also in Arlington 1960. Being confronted by Nazis. Yes, Nazis in Arlington - the American Nazi Party headquarters was on 928 North Randolph Street.

The boomer generation started in 1946. All those young men look older than 14 in this photo that was shot in 1960. So they are all part of the previous generation, which was called the silent generation.

The woman there looks like Ann Coulter. It’s probably the entire future fox line up.

I love how dion really looks like the little engine that could in this picture. Gives me hope that things can get better— although everything is pretty crappy now.

We've come a long way since then. There is still a long way to go, but the racism is so astonishingly blatant in this photo.
