Where to travel in the Florida Keys

Anonymous
Looking to travel there in March with hubby and I will be 27 weeks pregnant. Wanted to stay in the US, but want the Caribbean feel. Will it be warm enough there in March?

I was going to say it would most definitely be warm there in March, but with this winter's wacky weather, who knows? We have a picture of my nephew in 1993 wearing his winter coat to fish in Key Largo.

Are you looking for upscale or dive-y/keys-ey?

We are going in early april but with 3 kids so you probably want to do the opposite of us! it will be plenty warm (80s). without kids i would go to key west although you can't drink so it may be the best place but sure is different, laid back and unique. there are not great beaches in the keys so be forewarned. my suggestion is go to trip advisors forum on florida keys. post a question there and usually you get some good advice. i learned a ton there. you can fly into key west too which is nice. its a long drive from miami - although spectacular. enjoy!

My cousin got married in Key West right about March 1st and it was lovely weather. We all wore shorts and went in the pool - the beach was fun to walk around on but we didn't go in the water. I wore a sweater at night.

We stayed at the Casa Marina and it was fabulous but further from the main tourist area - because we have young kids we grabbed cabs to get to Mallory Square and to restaurants. I'd stayed at the Hilton near Mallory Square on a previous trip and we walked everywhere but we didn't have kids that time. Of course, I think that trip was in February and it was pretty cold - wore long pants, jackets and sweaters all the time.

We just got back from Key West and Marathon, FL. We stayed at Casa Marina as well and it WAS fabulous. We had 80 degrees and sun every day. We've also been there in March and it's been slightly cooler, but still fun. We also drove up to Marathon - about halfway between Key Largo and Key West. Had a blast there too, although, there's not much to do there other than lay by the pool. A few good places to check out. Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada is gorgeous, we stayed at Tranquility Bay, any of the hotels in Key West or the B&B's are pretty cool. Have fun!
