Hi! We live overseas at the moment and our K1 and PK3 got accepted to School Without Walls. The school says we need to enroll asap.
Since we're overseas, all we see in the news about America and COVID-19 is absolutely terrifying. Is it just the news or is it really scary in reality? My questions are: - Has anyone experienced SWW distance learning in the past semester? How was it? - Should I still enroll my kids even if we may not continue due to COVID? - Is there any kind of disadvantage if the school opens physically and my kids don't attend class in person? Will they get kicked out of school by not attending in person? Thank you in advance for answering my silly questions. |
| Yes, you should go ahead and enroll. You can still unenroll if you decide that option makes more sense. That will give you time to see what DCPS proposes for next year (which might answer your third question). |
| You should withdraw |

It’s not just the news. It’s a shitshow here. DC is relatively un-scary at the moment but likely to get scary again in the fall.

| I also got accepted for my pk3 child at SWW and I have enrolled, but depending on what the DCPS plan is for the fall, I might keep him in daycare. I don’t think a hybrid system with a couple of days per week and distance learning will work for us. |
