Wonders at Edgemoore - Bethesda

Anonymous
Are there any parents with recent experiences with young toddlers at this center? I searched the forums and there aren't too many comments. The administration/wait list process has seemed a little disorganized so far, which makes me apprehensive. If anyone can comment on their overall experience, teachers, etc., that would be very helpful!

I have no first-hand experience, but I'll share what I know.

First, we got on the waitlist in May 2007, when I was 7 months pregnant. We were called to fill a spot in or around December 2008. My daughter was already happily at another center, so we passed.

That being said, Wonders at Edgemoor consistently gets EXCELLENT reviews, and is incredibly convenient for any Metro-riders. It is, or was, also the most expensive center in downtown Bethesda, by at least $125.

Good luck.

I think I'd put my three year old there, but not any younger. They have recently reorganized to be more focused on their preschool program, which is wonderful, but seemed to us to have some adverse impacts on the younger kids. The biggest problem we had was that they are no longer moving kids up a class when they're ready, but instead insisting the kids stay in the same classroom for a full academic year. Really makes no sense for a 1yo, especially when there can be a wide range of ages in a given classroom.

Sorry to hear about the disorganization - that was not our experience, but the Asst Director (who handled those things) left right after we did; not sure what else might have changed, but the Director is warm and fabulous; knows all the kids and parents. It was very much a family atmosphere.
