| We're considering sending my rising 5th grader later this summer. Have you sent your child yet? How do you feel about the COVID safety? My main concern is the van ride. Thank you! |

My son is attending. Obviously, it isn’t a risk-free thing to do, but they are taking safety seriously. When I drop him off and pick him up, everyone is masked, and he reports that there has been no instance of anyone not wearing a mask in the van. KAH and counselors have made it clear there isn’t a discussion to be had. Also, the van assignments have remained consistent, so the kids remain in close to the same bubble from week to week. I say “close” because there was a new kid last week who hadn’t been there week 1.
At the activities, my son has said most are not crowded, though they are at public places. ONe beach he said it was hard to social distance. And after the first week they have made it a policy to not interact with the other KAH van that may be at the same place— so there 10 person bubble really is just 10 people (or 9 maybe). Finally, I will add that my kid’s mood has improved dramatically over the past three weeks. I don’t take the risk lightly, but I feel like this is well worth it for us. We aren’t going to restaurants, or shopping, I’m not getting my nails done. But this is a risk I am willing to take, and seeing my kids mood and spirits turn around has been really great. |
This is DC’s third week and our experience is very similar. I’ve always been very impressed with Bob and the other staff, and I’m so happy that DC is not home on the computer all summer. |
