We are going to be staying somewhere for two weeks and my kids always sleep in a room with blackout shades. I am increasingly worried about nap time. Any suggestions for how to darken a room temporarily while on vacation? We will be in a rental house. I am afraid the temp shades on Amazon will stick/leave residue on the windows, so I am looking for alternatives.

| I got suction cup ones on amazon for an Alaska trip a few years ago - they were a good buy and no residue. |
I always buy the black trash bags and use the blue painters tape to hang them up! I sometimes double the layer of the trash bag depending on the quality. We do this every time we travel. Not super attractive but cheap and easy

| OP here - thank you! |
| We use the black paper shades on amazon but use painters tape to hang instead of the adhesive on the blinds. Cut to size, and no residue from the painters tape. works like a charm. |
I did this when I rented a townhouse with friends back in my 20s, lol. I am a light sleeper and need a dark room. |
| Bring a roll of aluminum foil and a roll of masking tape. Zero light gets through foil. |
+1. I think I originally saw this tip on DCUM. We use painters tape and it cleans up easily when you leave. |
