I love berries and since they are not in season I bought some frozen blueberries, but they just sit in my freezer because I'm not sure how to serve them.
Ideally I would like to put them in yogurt, and in oatmeal for my toddler if that is a possibility. Do I take them out and run them under cold water? Leave them on the counter for a while? How do you serve them? Thanks for any info - I know it's a dumb question. |
| You should freeze them unwashed, then take them out of the freezer and rinse. Leave them out for a few minutes - it won't take long. You can also use them to make smoothies will still frozen. |

they are a great snack even while frozen.
I don't like putting them in my yogurt right out of the freezer, as the yogurt ends up freezing around them. I think either leaving them out for a while or running them under some cool water in a colander would be fine, depending on your time crunch. |
| I put frozen blueberries in oatmeal all the time. When the oatmeal is done cooking, toss in the frozen blueberries, cover and let sit for a minute and they will be perfect. Also good with other frozen fruit. I find no need to add sugar, syrup or anything else when I do this. |
| We typically defrost them in the microwave for 15-20 seconds, then mix with yogurt. |
| Use them for smoothies, muffins, and pancakes. |
