McLean COVID Practices

DS has a teammate that just tried out for McLean; DS told me this morning that they're doing 4v4 or 5v5, coaches weren't enforcing social distance policies (even high fives, selfies). Can anybody confirm? DS teammate is still doing our sessions, I'm a little worried about the chance of COVID transmission now.

Phase 3 starts July 1. Phase 3 is just regular sports as normal with the parents spread out and extra forms and sanitizer.

McLean does whatever they want. Don’t be jealous.

Why not ask the parent of the kid who told you about practices? they are better to understand the practices, then people on this website.

Parent of two McLean players and did not see any of that - players completely separated working on individual skills.

McLean parent here.... can also verify that no inappropriate practices have occurred with our team nor any other time that I’ve seen the fields.

What age group / team level - might vary. McLean parent here - my kids practice was totally socially distant - no more than 9 kids per coach, no scrimmaging - mostly running drills (although they were doing some passing). Kids were instructed to put their bags 10ft apart on the sideline.

Another McLean parent here too - practices were social distanced, kids worked on individual skills.

Another McLean (Girl) parent here -- practices were completely social distanced. No one is doing scrimmages or anything with close contact. I've been impressed by how these practices have been run--I'm completely paranoid about COVID, and feel comfortable with the setup. And it's been safer than the baseball/softball practices that have been happening in the area, b/c there is no hand contact of shared surfaces.

McLean parent here and I have to be honest. Whether or not a pracitce is social distance depends on the coach.

I was at practice this week where 2 McLean teams were complete social distance (cones set up 6 feet apart etc). Drills kept kids apart. The only interaction was on the sidelines (out of coach view).

There was one team however, that was not...kids in a clump all next to each other.

No high fives or blatant disregard--but just literally no infrastrucrure by coach set up to keep them apart.

In my opinion, Mclean needs to better train coaches on HOW to keep kids apart. They came out with the procedure--but not sure they armed coaches with the HOW.

Our practices had no contact. The kids worked mostly on dribbling and turns with a little bit of passing mixed in. Another McLean team on the same field had a different coach and did running and agility drills for about 45 minutes and shooting for about 15 minutes. They did not have any contact drills or scrimmaging.

I watched a group of MYS Girls - the coaches had them set their bags 10ft apart and the practice was totally socially-distant. They ran drills and a bit of passing, but that was it. I was actually very pleased with how things were run.

It was on the boys side at lewinsville...not going to call out the age group here but hopefully they can train ALL coaches to operate systematically on this and pay attention and enforce the rules.
