Do you think about existential/philosophical questions?

Anonymous
Questions such as why the universe exists, why we are here, etc.

If you do, do you think there are answers/what do you think are the answers?
Anonymous
Yes, of course.

I don’t think there can be definitive answers. We all accept the answers that feel right to us.

I agree.

I do and the older I get, the more I feel we are just dust in the wind.

Every damn day

Yes!

And when my parents died (I was in my 30’s), this reset all of my beliefs.

Who knows our purpose here.

No. But I had a boyfriend who used to keep me awake with his mulling over the concept of nihilism. It didn't last. I had to get up for work in the mornings and he didn't.

Yes I do. I have a very shaky understanding of physics etc but assume that whatever allows for existence is beyond our scientific explanations at this time. I call that God but can accept other ways of thinking about it.

Oh completely. But if I think about it too much, I get to the point where everything that people seem to care about--politics, war, etc.--seems massively stupid.

After all, we're just relatively weak creatures who get to spend a nanosecond on a planet that is tiny when compared to the universe. Arguing with one another about little bits of land and who is Christian or Muslim or whatever seems so massively stupid.

But that can lead to just saying "fk it all" and going to live in the woods, which isn't helpful since I have a kid. So I have to suck it up a little.

Yes, I think we are here to become enlightened. Enlightenment means to recognized that we are each and all derived from and part of the Source of Love and Infinite Energy (God, Allah, Jehovah, the Universe... whatever you want to call it). Once a significant number of the population is Enlightened at the same time, we will be able to harness our combined Love and Energy to make global changes and ultimately will transform Earth into Heaven (Nirvana, Paradise... whatever you want to call it).

Of course, soeeone owns the woods, and if you buy your little piece of the woods, you have to pay taxes on the woods, so you will have to do something to earn money, and so on, and on.

Yes I have thought about it a lot. Majored in philosophy just to marinate on it. Have always been a contemplater

I think it's all random. We are an extraordinarily lucky group of cells/matter/energy to have been born with cognizance at this time.

Kind of like, its so incredibly unlikely that you specifically will win the lottery, but its a guarantee that someone will win it. We won a universal lottery. So I consider myself very grateful and fortunate and try to use my winnings for good.

For what purpose though?

Not on a regular basis. I largely got that out of my system when I was younger.
