I’ve him on a few occasions. He seemed like a very decent person.
He cracked down on cops who screwed up, and seemed to be pretty popular with the people... at least I never heard of anyone outraged over anything he did (other than the FOP). |
| Wow. |
|
I am so sorry to see this. He is an amazing police professional. But I also don't know much about the accusations of systemic racism within the department.
I do know he has a HUGE challenge to overcome when he first got there. PG County police department has been pretty rough for a long time. |

Chief Stawinski worked closely and in good faith with UMD faculty on an implicit bias training program.
The officers walked out. Refused to attend. This was about two years ago. |
Yet another situation that supports my overall view of cops. Always open minded and willing to accept that they may have faults that need to be worked on. |

Someone has to be the fall guy. Just like Atlanta.
I don’t understand how the Minneapolis police chief has been able to keep his job. |
Because he’s been a vocal supporter of change and even sued the police department for race discrimination and won. You should read up on him. |
Cause he black |
Your overall view of cops? How many cops do you know? Or did you read about something in a biased publication about how a couple of cops refused to take a training class? |

| I grew up in the va exurbs. From forever ago, PG cops are known as the most racist. I don’t know why they attract so many racists. |
| PG has had the most openly corrupt police dept in the region for many years. Stawinski tried hard to clean it up. The FOP lobbied local groups to dirty up Stawinski’s name and forced him out. He had to resign to protect his pension. This is a tragedy and it reflects VERY badly on the elected PG leadership. |
| How in the hell does a majority black county put up with a rotten to the core racist police department like PGCPD? Dismantle them and rebuild the force from the ground up. |
|
Do you have any experience with racist cops in PG County? Just FYI- minority officers don't treat minorities any better than white officers. |
