Wiping butts

My son, who is 5, is terrible at wiping his own butt. We've been practicing for what feels like a year, but he doesn't seem any better now than he was a year ago.

It seems like a lot of the time, there is some leftover poop that doesn't quite drop, and then wiping just smears it everywhere.

DS is off to K next year and I feel like this is a critical life skill.

Any tips?

Mine just skips it. Barf.

No tips, but just saying me too. He has already told me he "just won't go poop at school" when I try to reinforce that we need to work on this school. Ugh.

Just keep at it. With DD it was a nonissue and she was 100% bathroom independent by four. With DS, we had to offer rewards at bathtime for a clean bum. He still calls the Matchbox cars he earned “bum cars”.
