Spontaneous BFP after stopping treatment - who to call for betas?

Anonymous
I stopped treatment about 6 months ago and haven't been in contact with my clinic since. I just got a positive test this morning and am anxious for blood work, since we have a long miscarriage history. Do I call my RE? OBGYN (that I haven't seen in 5 years)? Regular PCP?

Call your RE asap!

Call your RE!
I was in the same position as you last August. RE (SG) got me in the next morning, ran a series of betas, and did an ultrasound a little over 6w to confirm heartbeat, then I moved on to regular prenatal care.

Congratulations, OP!!!

I tried my RE when I had a surprise natural BFP but they said call regular OB. It was 15 months post first baby though.

My RE (dominion saw me and did ultrasounds and monitoring) until we saw a heartbeat. Congrats!

Definitely call RE. They can get your bloodwork same day and may test more than just HCG, while OB offices often send out to labcorp or similar, which take a few days. If you've had miscarriages, you don't want to wait a few days if you need supplemental hormones! Best of luck to you.

Another +1 to calling your RE. I called a nurse I had worked with extensively and she got me in for a beta.

Same thing happened to me. I called RE and they did blood testing every other day for three draws, I had an ultrasound and 6 weeks and then one at 8 weeks and then was released to regular OB.

Thanks all, beta on Friday. I’ve had enough early losses that I’m not even cautiously optimistic yet, but just hoping the betas are solid. Sigh, this rollercoaster is so exhausting, you know?

Good luck! I’m happy for you and hope everything looks good!

Good luck OP. I can't believe they are making you wait until Friday! That's a very long time. Hang in there.

Ha, thanks. In fairness, they don’t do betas until 16 DPO and Friday is 16 DPO, so they got me in as soon as possible. DH and I are pretty much dying of nerves, but better than low betas that cause even more unnecessary stress.

Thank you, PP! Beta was 100... which if I was really 16 DPO yesterday, that’s lower than I like. But I didn’t track this cycle and a friend thinks I could be 14-15 DPO, which would make 100 an okay starting beta. I was really hoping for higher and was seriously disappointed, but I guess we’ll see what Monday’s beta and (hopefully) next Monday’s scan say.

How are you doing?

100 is just fine. My first beta at 16dpo was 102. My RE was happy with that. The result is now 14 years old. 😄

Good luck!
