What are your plans for childcare with hybrid model school?

If kids are only going to school 5 out of 10 days (2 one week 3 the next) can you manage that if work goes back to some level of normal? Or is everyone expecting telecommuting to be a given?
I am not sure I could do the whole year after these last few months.

It would be less than that, as in most plans Friday’s are teacher planning days - so only 2 days/week. I’m lucky that I have a flexible job and could work from home. My kid is also independent and can do a lot on her own (rising third grader). So I could make it work if need be, as long as daycare is open for the younger one. Which, of course, it may not be, in which case I am screwed and have no idea what I would do.

I"m hoping to find a part-time babysitter.

I have a rising K-er. I expect my company will allow teleworking until schools are back to normal. I will just continue to keep on keeping on.

We're lucky. DH can likely WFH most of the time. I think my work will be flexible and understanding.

I don't want to use grandparents once schools open because the rest of us will have too much exposure.

I’m a part-time school employee and my husband does not have a flexible schedule and must be in the office. Ideally I will find another family who can watch my son while I’m working. I would take their child when I’m not. I know two families who I think would be a good fit for this. Another option would be to share a babysitter with someone on the opposite track.

What about the days there is no school?

I doubt it will be offered next year.

It depends for us - will the days be shorter too and holidays longer?
I am thinking Au pair but I hear they are hard to get now.

I only work part-time, but I highly doubt my preschooler's schedule will match my elementary kids enough to get my 20 hours a week in. We're going to have to go back to having a part-time nanny.

This. There is no way that can do aftercare unless they jack up the prices to manage the staffing that would be needed.

Hahahahaha. Do you think you will have that option for the off days- or any days?

We’re thinking about continuing our 5-year-old in pre-K. It’s a full day program and he could just go on his off days.
