I threw out a pack of hot dogs that had already been opened two weeks after the expiration date. I had opened them a month ago. Did I waste food?

Unopened in back of fridge which is always at 35 degrees. I have another pack that expires in September so I’m thinking that their sell by date isn’t very exact.
