Preschool and Daycare Discussion
|
My son was born in late October and won't be able to get into most preschool programs until he is almost 3 because he misses the age cutoff.
What have other people done in this situation? Does anyone have any suggestions for playgroups or classes? I'd like him to have some exposure to a preschool-like environment prior to age 3. Thanks! |
| He can enter a 2 year old program in any of the local preschools or co-op programs because he'll be 2 when the school year starts (even if he turns 3 just 2 months after school begins). Where do you live? |

My son has an early October birthday and yes, we had to wait an extra year for preschool, which actually was the right decision b/c otherwise he has to repeat preschool (age 4 and age 5) twice.
So, this is what we did. When DS was 2, we enrolled him in lots of classes - music, Communikids, JWTumbles, etc. to keep him busy. Lots of playgroups. We then entered him into a preschool in an "older 2s" class - you'd be surprised at how many kids turn 3 in October, November, etc. So - though he was 3 for the bulk of the time he was in a "2" class - he was surrounded by kids his age. |
