Infertility Support and Discussion

I had a very faint line positive pregnancy test. The line never got darker over a few days. About 5 days or so after my period was due (can't be sure of exact due date because my period had only returned a few months earlier from breastfeeding) I began bleeding, just like a normal period. I'm in day 4 of what I'd consider a normal period now and any symptoms I had of pregnancy completely disappeared. My temp has also dropped dramatically. Other than taking another HPT tomorrow morning for 100% confirmation that I am not pregnant, do I *need* to go to a doctor? I feel like if I hadn't known when my period was due and decided to test, I probably never would have known at all that anything out of the ordinary was happening.
I am looking for anecdotes/personal experience to let me know if I'm missing anything, a reason why I'd have to "report" my chemical pregnancy. I'd really prefer not to go to a doctor/midwife if I don't have to. (The only reason I could presume is if I end up with a whole bunch of CPs and just want this one "documented.") Thanks! |

I had three chemical pregnancies, one stickler OB...she wouldn't "document" the chemical pregnancies, unless she actually saw the numbers on a bloodtest (at this point, yours have probably dropped too much).
|
| same as previous poster. Have had 3 chem pregnancies, my OB would not even say I had been pregnant because by the time I saw him my beta numbers were below 12. |
| BUT, if you ever need the assistance of an RE, you should definitely mention any chemical pregnancies. It can help them figure out what is going on if you have long term issues conceiving and carry to term. |
| OP, I would just keep track of them (CPs) yourself. There is no medical reason why you would need to see a doctor about this. |
| Thanks all. HPT came out negative. Good to know I wasn't being generally careless by not seeing a doc. |

wait, if you are O NEG bloodtype, and this is your "first" pregnancy, you will need to get a Rhogam shot. |
|
No need for a rhogam shot with a chemical...there was NO opportunity for a fetal to maternal blood exchange to happen. There was no implantation, no establishment of a placenta, no development of fetal blood and no blood exchange. Therefore, no need for a rhogam shot.
