Wide leg work pants/slacks- with shorter person- feedback?

Anonymous
I have some wider cut work pants - I am 5'3" amd 123 lbs (post 2 kids birth- pre kids I was 110) - does this style make me look older/fatter? thanks

Depends upon your body type, OP. Wider cuts can, at times, make you look shorter and wider. But not older.

Your pants should be wide enough to balance the top part of your body and also skim, not hug, your leg shape. In other words, your torso and legs should appear to be the same width for perfect balance.

The other factor is your shoes. The wider the leg, the higher the heel must be worn for proper proportion. Something with a platform would be wonderful for you - will give you height but with a platform, the heel only looks higher.

And finally, look at the colors you are wearing. You will always look taller and slimmer if your pant color is the same as your top. Match your shoe color to pants for optimum height. The more colors you wear in your outfit, the more your body is "broken" horizontally and thus the
shorter you appear.

5:52 --- i'm not the OP, but thank you for your thoughtful and helpful response to the poster's question. You could have punted and tried to plug a wardrobe consultant as so often happens on this board, and which is not nearly as helpful.

Thank you.

Agree with 9:33's comments. I think when posters have a specific question as above, it is easier to answer them. But sometimes, when someone posts a huge, complex question, and we don't know anything about them, I have to admit that suggesting the hiring of a professional may be the way for them to go.....rather than giving that person all sorts of inaccurate advice that might be disastrous.

I think people will get the best information when their questions are smaller and specific - rather than asking about how to tackle a large issue with many variables.
