Outdoor trampoline with neighborhood kids...yay or nay?

DC really wants to go but I feel hesitant. What say you DCUM?

Broken bone higher likelihood than COVID.

One at a time, old enough to sort of respect social distancing & not put hands in mouth? I'd allow. Wash hands using outdoor hose & soap or hand sanitizer before returning home.

No

OP here, DC'd friends are all in it at once which is why I said no. Wondering if I'm being too paranoid.

/\ I meant DC's friends

Nope.

It must be repeated, the pandemic is not yet over.

Vaccine scheduled for early 2021. Patience.

Then no. Two or three kids on it with adults there to remind them to stay apart, I'd probably say yes. A whole gaggle? No.

You're really expecting strict social distancing until there's a vaccine?

This. You don’t want to have to take your kid to the ER right now.

It's always nay re: trampolines

Count me an outlier, I’d let them go.

I do allow it.
My friend's son did recently break his ankle jumping on it, though.
And, I did recently get a cold - not coronavirus.

How many kids? There is a new article published in one of the Nature journals about the most effective prevention measures post lockdown. It concluded that repeated contact with a small bubble of the way to go. Basically pick one or two families that are doing similar social distancing and stick to them. Don’t see one group of friends one week then another group the next, then coworkers, etc. That’s how social networks get very big again.

To those saying don’t see anyone outside your household until there’s a vaccine — no experts are saying that. It might be the only way to have zero risk, but it’s not realistic for the vast majority of people, and they know that. It’s like preaching abstinence only education. You are better off telling people how they can engage in a desired behavior safely rather than telling them not to do it at all. People who study human behavior know this.
