At what age do you know what type of school your child needs? |
The age that they are. Seriously, what's good for a five-year old might not work for that kid at ten. You pick the school that you think is right for your kid and your family at that time and be willing to adapt if it changes. I went to a private K-12 and it was hard to see kids that weren't a good fit for that school struggle because their parents wanted them there. I don't want to deal with having my kids at different schools but I'm willing to do so if it's necessary. |
Agree with PP. Throughout my childhood my parents moved us through different types of schooling based on where we were in the country (military family), family finances, and what we individual kids needed. It was the best kind of education. |
We knew by 1st grade that my child had learning disabilities that would require extra attention. But we've bounced around among SN private schools, public school with an IEP, and small mainstream private, depending on the age and the schools available. |
