Any preschool spots left (preferably in Silver Spring)?

We kind of panic bought a house in the suburbs during the pandemic after realizing we had basically zero space when you couldn’t leave the house 24/7 and we had no parks, yard, museums, etc to go to. Our almost 4 year old was enrolled in a DCPS this past year and was going to reenroll this year, but now we are moving to Maryland. The one downside is that I’m afraid we aren’t going to be able to get into a school for the fall. I really don’t want my son to miss out on a year+ of social interaction with peers, but I have no idea how to even begin to look for spots with most places closed and basically no where knowing what their operating schedules or enrollment will look like in the fall. We are flexible on days and hours of the week and even location since we think we will likely mostly be working from home next year. I’m guessing no one else has answers either, but if anyone else has been in the same boat or has any ideas, I’m all ears. Thank you!

Hi OP, I'm sure something will work out. Some schools like Evergreen School are still accepting applications for some age groups over the summer. It's been a great school for our kids. If you're interested in Montessori you should check it out.

Welcome to the neighborhood! I think you will just have to wait. No one knows when they will open, how many kids will be allowed/return, etc.

FWIW we have had a great experience at Rock Creek Montessori, which is much cheaper than Evergreen and about a mile away. Great little gem of a school!

NO

Is the "NO" because it's not a great school in your opinion or it is not accepting applications?

Spring Bilingual Montessori is another good option that's located in between these two.

It states in large letters across their homepage that they are not taking applications right now due to covid.

I highly recommend Evergreen. If you are looking for a quality Montessori it is the best option. My children have thrived. Incredible administration, teachers and very active board. You pay for what you get. Diversity at Evergreen is a strong part of the school and they offer financial aid to help meet the socioeconomic needs of all families.

Quality Time Learning Center is a good choice.

It’s a horrible choice. Look online, there have been 1 million complaints about that place. Even in the absence of complaints, the blacktop “playground” alone on Georgia Avenue is horrific.
