What a contrast between Trump giving a speech and just about any of the Democratic candidates for the nomination who are as boring as they come.

Forget about the "surface" (his speech); why not applaud him for the substance - a trade agreement with China? This was an amazing accomplishment, and very little is being said about it here - or in the liberal media. I was late getting home and missed the speech, but I did turn on right after. FOX was discussing the positive economic impact (with estimates that it could account for 1/2% of GDP), but when I flipped to CNN, well....you'd never know that anything happened. They were back to impeachment, impeachment, impeachment. What a colossal waste of time.

CNN hates Trump.

I think lots of people feel this way.

Guess we’ll find out in November.

Based on this forum, it does seem that the hate is deep - and widespread. But I just returned from a cruise (and on a premium line....NOT Carnival), and people were talking politics....politics.....politics. (I've been on lots of cruises and never heard such a focus on it before.) Other than one couple, they were ALL for Trump. And these were not "morons in flyover country" (to use the phrase liberals use here), they were almost all college-educated professionals.

I'll take boring over criminal.

I'll take policies that are good for America over economy-destroying Democratic socialist policies. Any interest in the China trade deal that Trump just negotiated? What about the US-Canada-Mexico agreement? What about the inroads he's made in containing illegal immigration? Or the 3.5% 50-year low in unemployment? Or rising wages for the lower class for the first time in forever? Or the roaring stock market, helping the half of all Americans who either directly or indirectly hold stock? How about the tax help he just gave to war widows? (Bet you didn't even hear about that?) Or arranging it so vets could go to private doctors without waiting for 9 months? Or how he removed the gag order left in place by Obama and now prescriptions are cheaper?

I'll take all that over a boring candidate peddling massive and unaffordable giveaway programs.

OK. And I'll take boring-but-thought-out-strategies over criminal-try-to-scam-us-all.

First, the socialist strategies are NOT thought out. It's just: free this, free that! Someone else will pay off your loans! Someone else will pay for your health insurance! Someone else will pay for your daycare! Guaranteed income for everyone too lazy to work!

Interesting though. I listed several excellent results that Trump has brought about, and you skipped right by them with the "criminal" nonsense. (You forget racist and anti-Semite.)

(Trump is SO going to win. That's why the liberals on this forum are getting worse in recent days. They're panicking. And the impeachment hoax is backfiring on you all. BIGLY.)

It's very telling that you call them "socialist" strategies.

And your "excellent results" are a joke.

You are FOS. Just like Trump.

I did not vote for Trump but this forum really is not reflect the views of most Democrats - what you are seeing is a vocal fringe element of the extreme left. I know a whole host of people who did not vote for Trump but unlike what you see on this forum, they actually do give Trump credit for the economy and what he has done for overall employment. This is not to say they will vote for Trump but I am fairly confident that if the Democrats nominate someone who is not likely to keep this economy going, at least some of these people will reluctantly vote for Trump.

The thing with Trump is that it is a choice between optics and results. Most of the people I know don't give a crap about impeachment because they view the whole process as being totally partisan.

If Trump did not do some of the crazy stuff that he does, he would win in a landslide. In any event, the odds are that he will win reelection.

Optics versus results?

People are just pissed that Trump is winning on a multiple fronts and over the fact that he's completely unorthodox. He is not a lifetime politician who's completely out of touch and who falls into the line of what's norm for politics. That IS however what people voted for, and he sure is delivering on it.

The Democrats have be some staid and just flatout boring. They can't run on anything other than ID politics and full blown socialism. Their policy prescriptions would demolish the US economy, and they have nothing else to offer economically than a Venezuelan style hostile take over.

Not pissed off. He was a terrible and corrupt businessman. He is merely the Manchurian candidate. Rs on the hill hate him! But he is so dumb they can push through everything while we are distracted by his baffonery.

If norm means telling the truth then I like norms.

Nah, I'm just pissed that we didn't get the 3% GDP growth that Trump promised.
The Democrats are boring. Also, 2% GDP growth is boring.

Trump’s China deal:

-China agrees to buy $50B of ag products this year.

-That's a gain of $29B from before Trump tariffs.

-Trump tariffs have cost U.S. farmers $11B.

-U.S. taxpayers have spent $28B on emergency payouts to farmers.

-So loss to U.S. is $39B.

+1. Don't forget that many economists are doubting whether China can/will actually buy that much at.

39B is the sum of 11B and 28B. But if the information you have posted is correct, we will sell 29B more in ag products this year than we would have without this deal. Subtracting that from 39B gets us to a 10B loss. Assuming the increase in sales continues on to next year, we would have another extra 29B, wiping out the 10B loss and leaving us with a 19B gain over the period.

I know, that's incredibly hard for any coastal liberal to believe. So busy looking down their noses at the rest of the country.

Flyover state doctors tend to earn more on average than those on the coasts.

You are forgetting that there would have been ~$21B in each of the last two years that didn't happen, meanwhile, absolutely nothing was done in terms of intellectual property and tech transfer. So Intel, Qualcomm and others will continue to get raped.

Socialism is alive with Trump.

For weeks prior, Trump said China had agreed to buy $50 billion in farm goods over two years (ie $25B per year). The text was finally revealed today -- and it was $38 billion. China was on track to buy $27 billion in farm products in 2020 before Trump's trade war upended trade relations.

So $2B less per year plus the loss in GDP that the consumers paid in tariffs plus the socialist subsidies to the farmers. No resolution on intellectual property.

That Trump really knows how to cut a deal.
