If you really want to have a speculative discussion we can talk about take-up rates! At least IB numbers are released by DCPS, we should know the actual number this fall. I don't think DCPS knows the number of kids IB for each school who go private, or the total IB school-age population for each school. Based on feeder school populations I think Hardy has about half as many feeder kids per seat as Deal does, so even if it had the same take-up rate it would still be majority-OOB. The only data I've been able to find is this article: http://dc.urbanturf.com/articles/blog/73_of_students_in_dcs_20008_zip_code_attend_private_school/8863?utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=Wednesday+August+13th%2C+2014&utm_medium=keep_reading_link It's by zip code. The zip code with the highest percentage of private school kids in DC is 20008, which is IB for Deal, where 73% of kids go private. Number two is 20007, IB for Hardy, at 68%. |
Could it be that the IB numbers are the topic if this thread, and that discussions of programming, etc belong on a different thread? Clearly the prisoner's dilemma issue is of importance to many high SES families, and the numbers, and the numbers alone, are the test if that is being overcome. It may offend you that that preference exists, and that some want to know what the numbers are. But IMO attempting to change the subject of a (on topic, within the TOS) thread because you do approve of the subject matter, is very poor netiquette. |
The distinction between IB numbers and school quality is a distinction without a difference. IB numbers are the manifestation of perceived school quality. |
No, PP. You're confused. Any discussion of IB percentages at Hardy is ultimately motivate by a racist agenda. Threads discussing IB numbers should be banned from DCUM.

I hope this is satire. If it's not, and all you see is racial animus, please don't have kids so that they don't grow up to be simple- and closed-minded. |
| This one should be 900! This should be fun!!! |
That's one opinion. Its why many are interested in IB numbers. But the reason why some people are interested does not mean the topic of the thread should discuss anything related to that reason. |
I think the smiley may be a hint on that. |
| Touche. Missed the emoticon on first reading. |

Going forward, only positive messages about Hardy will be allowed.

The IB numbers, so far, ARE a positive message about Hardy. |

It depends on whose numbers you believe. |
