| Apologies for gross details. Had a miscarriage at 8 weeks on Thursday. Clots, pads changes. But now it’s just spotting. My doctor is not convinced yet it’s a full on miscarriage, she’s sceptical. This is my first miscarriage ever. What should happen? How long does it take? |
|
I’m sorry for your loss.
This isn’t necessarily what’s happening to you, but it can be prolonged. Not necessarily weeks of heavy or even light bleeding, but tissue can be retained for weeks and either come out in a rush later or require treatment. When I had a drawn out miscarriage, I had multiple episodes of very heavy bleeding, enormous clots just streaming out while I sat over the toilet, including a bout that required urgent care. Ultimately, I had multiple ultrasounds to confirm everything was expelled, along with blood testing to make sure that my HCG was at 0. |
| I am so sorry. Mine was like PP described except it was over within a day. I was bleeding so much for so long that I went to the ER and an ultrasound confirmed the loss. |
| I had a MS around seven weeks. Pads and a few clots but no pain and no gushing blood. It was like a period. You won’t know for sure until hcg is down. But probably not good. I’m sorry. I did get pregnant again after about five months and have a wonderful one year old. I hope it works out for you too. Take care. |
If she is 8 weeks and sure about dates I think an ultrasound would be better. At this point HCG will be elevated anyway. I'm sorry OP. |
| I had light spotting for several months. That was terrible in a certain way - but hcg kept slowly going down so doctor wanted to let it run its course and said sometimes it just takes a long time. I did not have much cramping with the exception of one episode. |
| Op here. I don’t think gestational sac has dropped. I’m still spotting. Do I schedule D&E? My obgyn doesn’t do those, where do I go? I’m so confused. |
| Did you have a ton of cramping Op? |
Almost none. I’m very fatigued though, my blood pressure is low. |
| People, I would really appreciate all your advice. My obgyn dismissed my concerns. I’m so dejected. How can I fight this fatigue? How can I ensure this miscarriage is complete? I have nowhere to turn. |
| You could try calling your gp and seeing if he or she will give you a prescription for an ultrasound. I’m sorry op, going through the same thing too right now |
PP here. I got ultrasounds in the ER (I was on vacation and had to visit the local ER, yuck), and they couldn’t tell yet. If it’s that early, sometimes it’s not obvious, I guess. Maybe at eight weeks they’ll know definitely via ultrasound. |
I think you need a new OB. |
I know. She thinks I worry too much. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday. I’m just surprised, i I expected more blood and clots. |
Yes, this. Call a different office, explain that you think you're having a miscarriage; I would expect that someone will get you in quickly. Do you have any female friends or colleagues you can ask for OBGYN recommendations? |
