DD has a rough year, and failed a couple of Algebra tests this year. She also struggled with distance learning (and has done none of the work), and she clearly has some holes in her math.
I want her to do a math review this summer, but many of the online schools I’ve looked at have horrible, awful reviews. I’m willing to pay, but I want a program that correctly identifies correct and incorrect answers, actually teaches material, etc. I also prefer a secular curriculum that (ideally) allows her to accelerate where she already knows the material and spend more time where she doesn’t. If the program also has a writing/grammar subject that is well done, that is a bonus. I can provide support, but I cannot handhold her through it, due to my job. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can give! |
| Landon has two different Algebra online classes depending on age/grade/need. |
Thank you. I should have specified that it needs to be asynchronous, due to ADHD and a few other issues. |
|
Derek Owens might work. Pricey, though. Believe it provides both synchronous and asynchronous learning.

Florida Virtual was a good fit for my ADHD kid. Totally asynchronous, but with a real teacher. |
| Commonwealth Academy is offering Algebra online this summer, you could look into that. |
| Have heard good things about Thinkwell: https://www.thinkwell.com/collections/high-school-mathematics/products/algebra-1 |
| Why not just use khan academy? Their algebra set up is really solid, and it's free. |
| If she needs review on certain topics she could try these videos. They are well done. AoPS also has on-line classes that may or may not fit what you're looking for. https://artofproblemsolving.com/videos/algebra1 |

Our school uses IXL to supplement math which may work with what you want. They also seem to have other subjects.

We have been using Thinkwell for three years now, beginning with 6th grade math (also completed 8th grade/pre-algebra & algebra 1). The homeschool courses are reasonably priced and have been hugely helpful to both of our middle schoolers. When a concept is unclear or a chapter hasn't been going well, they simply find the corresponding topic on Thinkwell and have what is essentially a one on one lesson they can watch as many times as needed. The instructor in the videos (Ed Burger) is a co-author for DD's math textbook. It's a great program for helping with the summer slump too. |
| I was trying to figure out what to do about DD's algebra as well, and happened upon Thinkwell. I had been contemplating CTY, but it is extremely expensive. Thinkwell is about $150 for a year of access. Incredible deal!! |
| My daughter started Well Trained Mind this week for review. They are using the AoPS curriculum. Classes are lived and recorded. So far, my daughter is enjoying the class. |
| If you know there are gaps, I’d suggest khan or something else geared to mastery versus traditional. |
